Netflix is bringing HDR support to Windows 10 devices on the Fall Creators Update and above starting from today. The firm is rolling out this change to users of the Netflix website in Edge, and the Netflix app in Windows 10.Not all their media are in HDR, and you’ll need a HDR compatible device like Microsoft’s new Surfaces to enjoy it. That being said, Netflix is promising at least 200 hours of entertainment right off the back, including the popular Stranger Things.“This feature is the culmination of a multi-year collaboration between Netflix and a number of industry partners.” Netflix’s representatives explain on Medium, “Intel’s 7th generation and higher CPUs provide that capability needed to play the Netflix HDR10 encodes. Magic Leap has finally unveiled their headset, and the product they showed off does look rather polished, if in a 1930’s Sci-Fi goggle-eyed fashion. But Magic Leap did not just promise another mixed reality headset, they promised a revolution, and at first glance, it appears they have failed to deliver.The headset has failed to address the biggest issues with the main mixed reality headset on the market, the Microsoft HoloLens. The main issue dogging that headset is of course field of view, and according to Brian Crecente who had extensive hands-on time with the Creators Edition of the headset “the viewing space is about the size of a VHS tape held in front of you with your arms half extended.” That would be roughly around 40 degrees, somewhat bigger than the 30 horizontal degrees of the Microsoft HoloLens and still far from the 120 degrees field of view that includes our central and mid-peripheral field of view.The second big issue with the HoloLens is cost, and when it comes to the Magic Leap headset, while the company would give an exact pricing, they did say “we are more of a premium computing system. 2017 was a great year for Tech Gadgets with some awesome products released this year. It has always been claimed that iPhones are gradually slowed down as Apple pushes new iOS updates for them. It has also been observed that the batteries of an iPhone start degrading after a certain point. Now a coection between the two may have been identified.Today, Geekbench reported in a blog post that there is a high performance difference between iPhone 6s devices that run iOS version 10.2.1 and 10.2, and this scenario is observed in multiple instances, which means there is something intentionally fishy.Now the root of this cause has been identified as Apple themselves who are intentionally limiting the devices’ performance even with minor software updates. Two iPhone 7 devices with different versions of iOS showed a huge difference in the performance.An interesting thread on Reddit delves into this situation. There, a user claimed to have made their iPhone 6S faster after he replaced its battery. To verify, he also visited Geekbench and compared the benchmark scores and he was able to notice a clear performance boost after a new battery was added.It now appears that Apple may be intentionally slowing down devices with old batteries to maintain at least a semblance of all-da

We reported last month that Trekstor’s Windows phone was being crowdfunded, or at least, an attempt was made at crowdfunding the device. The Windows phone was a low-end handset aimed at small businesses and Windows phones who wanted to replace their old windows devices.It seems the market for that was just not very large. The campaign now is over, and the firm managed to cover just about 11% of its costs, marking an unsuccessful attempt at fundraising (via AllAboutWindowsphone).This isn’t the first Windows phone to attempt a revival via crowdfunding. The American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) yesterday aounced that it will honour Microsoft with the prestigious Helen Keller Achievement Award for its role in creating more accessible products and improving the accessibility of their already-popular products. AFB mentioned the following reason for giving this award to Microsoft.Microsoft is being honored for its significant strides in developing inclusive technologies to empower people with disabilities. Examples include the launch of the Seeing AI app, which narrates the world for people who are blind or have sight loss. Many of these games now offer 4K resolution, HDR, and other benefits thanks to the Xbox One X’s power.The newest games added to the list as of today (December 19, 2017) are Chess Ultra, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, EA Sports NHL 18, Hello Neighbor, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Redout: Lightspeed Edition, Rugby 18, theHunter: Call of the Wild, and Okami HD. Last month, Microsoft revealed more information about Sets, their new tab-based multi-window interface for Windows 10. Yesterday we reported about the Back and Front Panels leaked online which confirmed the design of the upcoming Flagship Galaxy S9. Now a Twitter user who goes by the name “Zyad” shared the benchmark results from Geekbench which confirms Snapdragon 845 as the processor.The device is listed as Samsung SM-G965U1 in Geekbench and did confirm other details as well. Galaxy S9 will come with Android Oreo out of the box and will have 6 GB RAM. The Geekbench leak finally gives us a sneak peek at the technical specs of the devices.As for the scores, Galaxy S9 + reaches a single-core score of 2122 points, while it comes to a total of 8351 points in the multi-core test. It should, however, be noted that the device is still not optimized and we don’t know the final scores until Samsung installs Android Oreo into the device. The scores will increase as the hardware and software adapt to work interdependently. Microsoft Garage team has released another Lock Screen app for Android devices today. The app is currently targeted at only Indian audience. Favorites Lock Screen is currently the third lock screen app by Microsoft Garage after Next Lock Screen & Picturesque Lock Screen.“Even though the Picturesque team already had a great lock screen app available in India, we wanted to try something different. Windows Defender Application Guard is a popular security feature among the enterprise. Samsung has rolled out an update for the Pay app which introduces a way to pay bills from the app. The app will allow users to pay bills like mobile postpaid bills, electricity, DTH, and utility bills. The app will save the bank information including IFSC Code and Account Number to help them pay or transfer money quickly.As you might know, Samsung Pay has many good features like Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) which allows the user to pay without using NFC. Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés or CNIL has ordered WhatsApp to stop sharing data with its parent company Facebook. WhatsApp has been given a month’s time to comply with the order. This decision finally stopped the battle which began last year when WhatsApp updated their Terms of Service to add a clause detailing the sharing of data with Facebook for targeted advertisement.CNIL ruled out that WhatsApp’s security conces were valid but at the same time, this didn’t give them right to share user data for business purposes. The regulating authority said that there’s no way of opting out of data collection and it violates the fundamental freedoms of users. This is not the first time the company has been slammed for collecting data. Samsung is rumoured to aounce the upcoming flagship Galaxy S9 at MWC 2018. While almost all the details are already out, we haven’t seen anything solid until today. In the latest leaks, the alleged front and back panels have leaked online. The leaks though confirm what was speculated, no design changes. Both the front and back panels look a lot similar to Galaxy S8.The panels match the 3D renders leaked online some time back and confirm that S9 will feature the same design language as S8. Although Samsung seems to have taken care of one aoying thing with Galaxy S9 which is the placement of the fingerprint scaer on the side of the camera. Samsung Galaxy S9, however, will have fingerprint scaer below the camera.Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ are supposed to come with a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 or Exynos 9810 processors, 4 GB and 6 GB RAM, and an 18:9 screen ratio introduced with S8. A couple of hours back we reported about the leaked Front and Back panel of the upcoming flagship Galaxy S9 from Samsung. Now another report claims that Samsung might be plaing to add a 3200 mAh battery to S9. This will be a noticeable increment from Galaxy S8 which has a battery of 3000 mAh.This might be a good thing from the point of view of the users but might backfire Samsung badly. The reason is Galaxy Note 7 disaster. The company had 3500 mAh battery on Note 7 and we know how that situation went down, resulting in the decision to decrease the battery capacity in follow-up models for safety reasons.Increasing the battery capacity might be a gamble for Samsung but on the other hand, it will be good for the end users as they are getting around 6.25% increase in battery capacity compared to S8. Both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are a bit thicker and will probably support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.We still don’t have a final word on when Samsung plans to unveil them but sources suggest it might happen in February or March.
